Purpose and Principles

PortFit exists to remove guesswork from shop‑vac setups with job‑first guidance and verified compatibility. Our editorial standards ensure our content is accurate, transparent, and independent of commercial influence.

Independence and Funding (Affiliate Disclosure)

We may earn commissions from affiliate links to retailers at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our test design, scoring, or recommendations. We do not sell ranking placement or accept payment for positive coverage. When a manufacturer provides a sample, we disclose it and apply the same test methods and scoring as retail units.

Product Selection

We select products based on user needs, safety/compliance considerations, availability of parts/filters, and market relevance across ecosystems (RIDGID, Shop‑Vac, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Festool, Fein, Karcher, Craftsman). We prioritize items that solve real job problems and represent meaningful options for our audience.

Testing and Evidence Standards

All performance claims must be supported by repeatable tests, measurements, or reputable sources. Each review includes:

• The exact test setup (hose length/diameter, filters/bags, adapters).
• Instruments and methods used (CFM, static pressure, particle counts, noise).

Sourcing and Citations

When we rely on standards or external research (e.g., OSHA silica requirements, HEPA classifications), we cite the source. We do not cite marketing material as evidence unless used explicitly for comparison.

Updates and Versioning

We revisit guides as products, regulations, or our methods evolve. Substantive changes are timestamped with a short change log so readers can see what changed and why.

Corrections

Conflicts of Interest

Contributors must disclose any financial or personal ties to brands covered. Individuals with conflicts do not review or score those products.

Sponsored Content

If we ever publish sponsored material, it will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored” and kept separate from editorial reviews and rankings. Sponsors have no control over scores, methods, or recommendations.

Visuals and Data Integrity

Photos, diagrams, and charts reflect the units we tested and the setups described. We do not alter images in ways that misrepresent results. Graphs must be labeled with units, axes, and test conditions.

Safety and Compliance Context

Our guidance supports safe practices, but it is not a substitute for formal training or legal advice. Always follow applicable regulations and manufacturer instructions.

Use of AI Tools

We may use assistive tools for grammar or formatting. Final testing conclusions, recommendations, and scores are produced and reviewed by humans.
